Wear and Care of your beaded jewellery

The Golden rule with beaded jewellery - well actually any jewellery -  is "last on and first off".

This is probably a hard habit to change for many women but will ensure your jewellery lasts longer.

So next time you are about to get dressed and put on your jewellery - stop - put it down , do your makeup and hair then put on your gorgeous piece of jewellery.

Hairspray, perfume and makeup will over time damage jewellery no matter what the price of the piece.

Another tip - don't store your jewellery scrunched up -  necklaces should either be hung or laid flat to maintain their shape. The lovely organza bag we jewellery artists give you are for short term transportation - not long term storage. Hence why I am frequently replacing beading wire like tigertail, beadalon etc on necklaces.
Tigertail and its equivalents the most common wire used in beaded jewellery kinks very easily.
Jewellery also should not be stored in damp conditions, hence why jewellery boxes were invented, to keep jewellery dry and out of light - acid free tissue is also a great material to help protect all jewellery.
A great way to hang your necklaces are on necklaces stand - you can pick these up at your nearest Warehouse (NZ) or buy a coffee cup stand - you can get some nice looking metal ones. Check your kitchenware areas/shops for these... but please remember when winter arrives check your necklaces as they may need to be stored differently if they are in a damp environment.

How to Clean your jewellery

Quick Tip time ♥ Did you know that to polish plated jewellery or anti-tarnish artistic wire pieces, you can use a silver polishing cloth, available from your local supermarket? It brings the pieces up beautifully (especially the yellowing that will invariably happen to your wired pieces - sterling and otherwise!).
